Copa Crane shot from The Joy of Life

Copa Crane shot from The Joy of Life

Lamenting the dismantling of a local historic landmark today. Construction (or rather "destruction") crews began taking apart the Islais Creek copa crane this morning. When I drove past this afternoon at 4pm the top section had been completely removed. Presumably they will continue on Monday. Here's a still from my film The Joy of Life — shot by Sophie Constantinou (if you watch the movie — which is now on iTunes — you can savor a roughly 3-minute contemplation of this gorgeous example of analog technology). Would love to hear memories of this (or other) lost San Francisco landmarks.
