Crazy Log Cabin quilt... HPIM0342
I'm trying to figure out how she made this - it looks like she pieced the blocks in big sections and then sewed them together... it's all log cabin style pieces, and looks quite complex but I think some planning would make it pretty easy...

Good clear photo of this Kaffe Fassett-type design- looks like a blue/ochre version of his red one- Square Windows or something...

Also, the colors remind me very much of gustav klimt's color palette

Really is gorgeous! I used to quilt once upon a time, now mosaic... Funny how there are such similarities between the 2 mediums...

I was working on something like this last summer with a bag of batik scraps a friend gave me. I am using a black background and doing the strips with black in between to make the batik fabric last longer. It is turning out well. I need to pick it up again soon.

I did something like this in black and white (you can see it here.) It's based on the "Jewel Squares Blind" in Kaffe Fassett's book, "Glorious Patchwork." You can find other versions on Flickr -- visit the Kaffe Fassett groups or do a search for Kaffe Fassett quilt. This one is unique in its controlled use of color and is exceptional!
