Please, make yourself at home

Shoes
En-socked feet
Please, make yourself at home by jenchung.
Blurry cameraphone picture, but it is a lady with her shoes off and her feet on the bench. I thought it was pretty ridiculous.

Did they stink? Lately, I have had trouble dealing with the plethora of unpleasant smells in the subway cars. The other day, Toby and I had to deboard the car and run to another. Why don't people clean themselves up? I know that some folks can't and all but others have no excuse other than laziness.

Oh, and the spitters are in a league of their own. If you're opening spitting on the subway, I think other passengers have the right to kick you in the anus.

People need to have another look at the social contract.

ugh, frozen gobs are especially gross, and the nail clippers! I'm getting nauseous just typing this...
I admit to doing this with my shoes on. One of the papers did a study awhile back on what was left on your jeans after sitting on the subway. I believe they used the word "fecal"

The worst is the people who are eating chicken. Some of the people leave the bones on the floor of the car. Meat eating heathens!

Triborough!!! I have written about the chicken bones time and time again and NO ONE has every come to my aide. I am so happy to know I am not alone in my chicken bone siting. It's absolute bullshit.

The other part of the problem with the chicken eaters is they are usually noisy eaters, too. If you have to eat on the subway, eat stuff that isn't going to make a mess isn't gross.

Plus, there's the gross sauce and shit that manages to cover their fat faces.

I think eating any food is problematic on the subway, since most emit some sort of odor. Maybe a granola bar or a discreet box of raisins, but anything warm with a wafting aroma... ugh.

Anyway, this lady's feet didn't stink, but I was perturbed. Luckily, some people got on the subway so she had to put her feet away. I know about hurty feet; I just think if your feet hurt and you want to take them out of your shoes, rest them on top of your shoes. Please?

Or buy shoes that don't cause hurty. Damn silly women. ;]

Oh, on the DC metro they will not allow food or drink and will give you a fine if you eat or drink. Personally, I preferred that rule. If people can't wait a little while to eat, then they have a problem.

I hate the DC Metro, although it is a perfect fit for the city - overpriced, over engineered, not always useful (ie. try to get to Georgetown or ride at 3 a.m.), looks like a set for Dr. Strangelove, and is in DC and environs.

I loved DC. I loved the metro. I loved living there. I loved it.

Did you live there? Or are you just basing that on visiting a few times. Just curious. Most folks who are really against DC never actually spent a lot of time there.

I have relatives there, well they are in the horrid burbs now and are afraid to fo into the District proper. I think they would never set foot in NYC either, despite being safer than DC.
