Nice to be able to combine the snow with the contrast of the industrial looking structure. It might be time to return to the Steetley industrial series I started a while back, I'm feeling the pull of dark tones again!
Next in a series of minimal snowscapes from Northumberland. Well the snow is now a fading memory. It rarely lasts long in the UK so you need to make the most of any time you get to enjoy it and have ideas of images and where to go. I'm lucky to have Northumberland in my backyard, and I spend most weekends here taking photographs or just hillwalking and enjoying the outdoor life. So when the snow arrives there's always places I have in mind. Here I was interested in the relationship between the lone pole and the group of trees over the hill. Do you think the pole still has the spirit of a tree within it or is that too fanciful? It seems to be looking back from it's lone position to the family of living trees.
All this icy weather got me thinking about previous ventures into the wilds in winter. I re-discovered this from a day driving up to the Scottish Borders in search of images. Sometimes it's the little details that catch your eye.
