I was driving home the other evening when I passed this old school building, and I noticed "The Red X of Death" painted on the side. Looks like this fine old structure is coming down.
Dedicated in 1923, the Pequonnock School is a rather non-descript multi-room brick school building, which back in the 1920's, would have been in a very small town and probably handled all the towns school needs. Over the years, the town has built more schools, and expanded this school. However, time has apparently caught up with this structure and in these bad economic times, with high local taxes, it's cheaper to tear it down than to fix it.
