Vacation spot in the Smoky Mountain National Park...

Life has brought so many challenges inthe past few months that I have not had much time to devote to photography. But as the saying goes, "And this, too, shall pass!" I miss visiting your pages and seeing your views and life in pictures, but I'll be back soon...miss you all...

This photo was from a very peaceful mini-vacation in Tennessee last summer. You should go there sometime!

The Last Dandelions of 2011

The Last Dandelions of 2011

Here are the last of our 2011 dandelions. Some people loathe these flower-weeds, but I have to admit to admiring then a bit. They are tenacious and hell-bent on survival, and despite the fact that they are mown down repeatedly they keep coming back with that same golden smile.

When you actually take the time to look at one closely, you have to admit the beauty of their flower. They're like the tomboy who shows up at the prom in a sleek dress that raises everyone's eyebrows. You just gotta admire that...

Happy Great Pumpkin Day!

Happy Great Pumpkin Day!

No, it's not the Great Pumpkin, but his eyes are as big and orange as pumpkins! It was sort of eerie when he made eye contact with me, but it was also quite fascinating.

I support one of our local bird rehabilitation centers, the Carolina Raptor Center. It's a great cause for animal lovers and an especially great cause for the wounded animals themselves! This is one of their rehabilitated horned owls.

I shot this through a chain link fence, so please overlook the blurry spots...
