grocery bag panniers posted by ann <wombatgrrl@gmail.com> Tue Sep 20 16:38:33 EDT 2005 (1127248713)
for bigger grocery loads, you may want to
think about trying grocery bag panniers at some point. Jandd makes some
really good ones - they're not cheap, but they are very strong. With 2 of
these panniers and a couple of bungee cords and a little big of
ingenuity, you wouldn't believe the stuff you can get onto a bike! I use them
every day, because it's a hassle to always be open and closing bags - I
like just being able to toss stuff in.
thanks. i looked at grocery panniers,
but they were awfully expensive. i think
these will do for my modest needs for now,
but i'll keep it in mind. sincerely, jeff

The Jandd ones retail for about 50 bucks
each, but they also sell them on ebay in materials that they've
discontinued and I got them for about 25 or 30 each. Also, Performance Bike sells a
knock off of Jandd's bag for 18 bucks. I just got one for my mom and
it seems like a pretty good bag, but not quite as sturdy as Jandd's. Once
you start trying to carry heavy and bulky stuff, you'll realize that
you need something more sturdy. Just remember how much money you
spent on your car and then you'll realize that laying out a hundred
bucks on bike gear makes sense when you would have thought nothing of paying
a hundred bucks on a car repair.
