A Bend in the River

This is a shot of one of the most beautiful places in North America that I've ever had the pleasure to visit. It is called Paradise Valley, Montana...... and it is approximately 20 miles directly north from the northern entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

If you don't make it a point to travel here when you are in the Yellowstone vicinity, you'll be missing what I consider to be one of the 10 top photo spots in the United States.

This is a handheld three exposure (one over, one under, one correct) high dynamic range image blended with Photomatix software......and it was taken with Nikon D80 coupled with a Nikkor 18-200mm VR (vibration reduction) lens.

By the way - I've had several unauthorized usages of my images and I've now had to resort to the following script on the bottom of each of my images:

I suspect anything I say will simply be lost in the avalanche of praise your shots get, nevertheless, this is just the sort of shot that makes hdr a worthwhile tool. I'm always troubled by folks who decry hdr photography generally as outlandish, or garish when there are examples as fine as this. Beautiful subject, beautifully framed, and ideally treated. You might consider adding it to the following group.
