In the SF bay area the most common blackberry is the Himalayan/Armenian variety, They put out their first ripe fruit, one at the tip of each branch, around the second week of June. The rest of their fruit ripens a month or so later.

However, there's also a minority population of native blackberries like this one, which ripen about a week earlier.
