The Forbidden City - Shishi

One of two Ming dynasty Shishi's that guard the entrance to the Tai he men gate of the Forbidden City.

The Forbidden City was used as the palace from the Ming dynasty through to the Qing dynasty. The meaning behind it's name is that once someone lived in the palace they were not allowed to leave.

The site is listed as UNESCO Cultural World Heritage.
