The weather has finally gotten warmer, and my workload has decreased enough for me to be able to continue my series of on-location drawings of ordinary, but typical Vancouver buildings. I really enjoy the lived-in, neighbourhood feel of the East Vancouver residential streets, where I live.
My friends moved to the suburbs about a year ago and sold this little old house that they had bought in 2002. Of course they bought a much bigger house in the 'burbs. I always liked the 1940s polka dot stucco on this house, it is as jaunty as a house can be.
And I love trees. I've probably said this before, but it always amazes me how much vegetation there is to draw in an urban environment.
I did this drawing to give them for one of their birthdays as a surprise. This was their first house and they were very attached to it.
The new owners saw me sitting there drawing and brought me a beer. Cheers!
