Equipment

Equipment

This is the kit that I use when I'm taking most of my photos. One Canon Rebel Xsi, an 18-55mm lens, a 55-250mm lens, a couple of lens hoods, a 430EXII external flash, an RS-60E3 remote switch, an assortment of filters including a UV filter, a circular polarizer, a FLD filter for florescent light, and a series of magnification lenses for close up shots. There's also a lens pen for keeping stuff clean. All of this fits pretty snugly into the Tamrac Velocity 7 bag that I use to carry gear.

Grotto - Angel

Grotto - Angel

One of the other things I did on my trip down to Portland was to stop at The Grotto. The Grotto is more officially known as The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother. It's a Catholic shrine and botanical garden, and regardless of whether or not you're Catholic, or even Christian, it's a beautiful place full of statuary, and plants, and a general sense of peace. This kneeling angel statue is one of the pieces along the trail in the upper level of the Grotto.

Portland - Toppled

Portland - Toppled

Continuing the dawn set from Portland, there is an arrangement of blocks in Pioneer Courthouse Square that are designed to represent a toppled pillar. This segment of has a toppled chess piece on it. Toppled pillar with toppled chess piece, and the light the way it was made for a good shot.
