Word Vader

Word Vader by Jonathan Feinberg.
I was putting my son to bed, and I said, "I feel like writing a computer program, but I don't have any ideas," and he said, "make something that draws Star Wars characters with words," and I had most of the code for that kind of thing lying around, and here it is.

Argh; flickr didn't preserve the full size (or format) of my photo. Boo.

Edit: If you want a large, high-res version of this, you can get it from jdf.posterous.com/ .

Hi, everyone. Thanks for all of the comments. I don't use flickr much, so they kind of piled up.

I can't really tell you "how" I do it, because the answer is a few hundreds lines of computerese. In brief, I posterize the source image into 3 or 4 colors, then create a mask for each color, then try to squeeze the words into those masks by randomly plopping them into the spaces defined by the masks, making the phrases smaller and smaller as I fail to find room. It's really, really slow.
