The Square Deal Motorcycle Riders club in North Fenton, NY kicked off the first of the winter series races for 2011-12. It was really hard to believe that this was a "winter series" race when temperatures were in the high 50's to low 60's.... :)

Strobist: Nikon D700 w/Nikkor 80-200 AF-D 2.8 (one of the older non-VR ones) Hotshoe mounted sb-800 in commander mode triggering two sb-600's on the other side of the track (camera left) The 600's were simply in TTL zoomed to around 85mm. The 800 in manual @about 1/4 power - it was really just being aimed about 45 or so degrees to the left to trigger those two.

. . . wife & I stumbled upon this old thing while out & about earlier this afternoon. I didn’t have the body / lens combination that I would like to have had, nor did I have a tripod with me. So I just jacked up the iso to around 800 or so upped the f-stop to 10(‘ish) to get some depth of field (keep most stuff in focus) and then hand held a 3x bracket. Weather permitting — I may head back out there tomorrow… with the aforementioned missing stuff. It’s kind of a cool old truck… :)

The annual DPM race was held earlier today in Greene, NY at the Lions Club facility on what turned out to be a really good day weather wise for this time of the year, in this neck of the woods. The races were slated to kick off at 10:00am with a 2nd (main) event scheduled for a 12:00pm start – I arrived in time to make the start of the 10:00am races but was unable to hang around for the later events. These two photo’s here are my particular favorites from the day, from the shots that I grabbed. There are about 100 or so more available for viewing and purchase @the galleries – check ‘em out at this link. :)

Check this -- "St. Maximus the Confessor Orthodox Christian Church". Yep - thats a mouthful.... lol!

Anyway - this cool little church is located on Gaskill Rd in between Owego and Newark Valley, NY. I have an older photo of it in my photostream here someplace - I like this one better.

So I met my wife & mother-in-law at a restaraunt in a nearby town (Endicott) for dinner after work and on leaving that place I happened to notice that the sky & clouds were really working. "This is a good hdr sky... " I mumbled to myself. So on my way home I decided to take a slightly alternate way which would conveniently have me drive right by this place . . . . :)

Hand held 3x bracket, Nikon D300, Tokina 11-16mm, circular polarizer. Photomatix, cs5 & lightroom. I think it might make for a cool metallic finish print.
