Try "Mesmerized". Great portrait, excellent B&W and tonal range. Spot on composition as well.

a marvelous, stunning capture.

i am really curious how you got such crispness, clarity... her hair, viewed large, is amazing. i just discovered that if you click on the name of the camera that a foto was taken with, there is a whole load of info behind there. so i clicked on portraits taken with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (which sounds like something you drive to work in). and came across this treasure.

so i am curious, to what extent is this one about the camera, vs any of the other magical things that go into taking a photo.

@drumtoo-- I'm quite pleased that those bright strands of backlit hair didn't bloom out or anything. I have to give full credit to the camera and lens (mostly the latter). Of course, I did have to nurture it in post-processing to bring the detail out without introducing crunchy sharpening artifacts. Any decent DSLR + good optics could have captured the image, although it would be difficult or impossible with a common compact digicam. And then there's b/w film, which would probably blow this away without even trying.
