The Prairie, Denver and MountainsDenver buildings Denver buildings
I took this picture with my telephoto lens. The buildings are part of downtown Denver - approximately 15 miles away.

The flat area was once a weapons manufacturing base. It has been set aside as a wildlife preserve. A winter communal roost of bald eagles was discovered on site in 1986. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said that more than 330 species of wildlife inhabited the Arsenal including deer, coyotes, white pelicans and owls. A small herd of wild bison were introduced to the refuge in March 2007. It is called the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. This is where I stood when I took the picture. (location in WikiMapia.org) I've been surprised by how many hits this photo has received. 2,600 hits so far. Here is a view taken from the same spot. I just turned around. The Courtyard Hotel Denver Airport is where we stayed. Photo: 2006 01 28 CO Denver prairie and Mountains 11-25-59 AM_0027 Commentsthinking.blissful
