1 - Next Actions Board

A coin envelope is (usually) a project, which holds the project plan.

In this case, it's empty and my next action is to plan the project.
1 - Next Actions Board by jazzmasterson.
These are the next possible actions I can take to move forwards towards a goal. Some of them are the cards from project plans, others are standalone. Project actions have the name of the project written in the upper right hand corner of the card, if I was that together when I wrote the card.

This is great (seriously great), but I have one shopping difficulty and question:

I just checked out some coin envelopes at Patrick's and they were the same width as 3x5 index cards. Might be able to cram a couple in each envelope but yours are clearly larger... Anybody got thoughts on coin envelope size diffs?

Coin envelopes come in multiple sizes, some are the exact size of index cards, give or take a fraction, and that's no good.

Mine are 3.375" by 6", which is good for about 15 cards.

I have fought in wars, stormed beaches at 4am, walked into boardrooms, and dealt with every concieveable situation and my 3x5 card has outlasted everytool since 1955. This includes Franklin Daytimers, Filofax, Palm Pilot, Trio Phone etc.. Long live the 3x5 card. (Comment is from my friend Henry, I wasn't born in 1955).

Do you have only one "next actions" list? I think this is the big bit that's worrying me (and keeping me from implementing GTD completely right now): what next actions lists should I define? I'm on the road quite a bit seeing clients and stuff, but other than that, all I have to do is at home. I'm a bit scared about the prospect of lumping work/home/fun stuff together in one big list.

Anybody have advice about that?

@ stephanie
I use a hPDA and use different colours for different environments, but as hPDA's go: I carry all categories everywhere, all the time...
