Portrait for Fast Company

Portrait for Fast Company

Shot this portrait of a United Airlines executive in Houston at Bush Intercontinental Airport for Fast Company Magazine. We had roughly 45 minutes to get the shot once the plane landed and was parked at the gate. Though it seems like a lot of time, it wasn't considering there were baggage handlers and food service trucks moving all around and the magazine wanted several different options.

Strobist: I used a 10 degree grid on a white lightning head to my right being held by my assistant high above the subject and I shot through a ring flash with diffusion for a fill light. I used a 2 stop ND filter on my lens to help bring the ambient light down a bit, since it was glaringly bright out that day.

Light test with my assistant

Light test with my assistant

Had a quick shoot for Bloomberg Businessweek this morning. There was potentially going to be a cowboy hat used, so Hayden donned it to test.
