As a fellow large fingered individual, I
think this would rock. Otherwise my friends
my think I'm messaging in Welsch.

That looks like it'd work with yer sausages,
Jason.
Steve Jobs needs to bulk up a bit more and
then he'd understand why, sometimes, a stylus
really is needed by fatty fingered folk.

There's this one ages-old Mad magazine where
they show made-up inventions. One of them was
a small index you could put on top of your
index finger to use on calculators and stuff
with small buttons... Maybe not such a stupid
invention after all :-)
The Nintendo DS has a few similar gadgets
which can be purchased at games stores.
Either way, I guess that wouldn't work here
since the finger needs to have contact with
the iPhone to register. Jobs said that they
try to figure out what you were trying to
write based on the surrounding letters and
the words that make sense, so I'd wait to see
whether it works with bigger fingers before
getting too worried.

It looks like it would be kind of difficult
to hold and type that way. No landscape
keyboard is no big deal to me. Good mockup
though.

A widescreen virtual thumbboard could work
really, really well. I know because I wrote
one for 480x320 Palm OS devices (that's the
same resolution as the iPhone, BTW). Here's
how it looks: www.hipnetic.com/geek/thumbboard_0.6.2.gif
