Did you have to clone some people out or did you get lucky with the timing?

Sweet! The juxtaposition of the open space and the crowd is amazing, and your subject stands out brilliantly. She doesn't even need the cut out to do so.

Yeah, it was a really really lucky chance that people happened to be where they were. :) I used the cut out effect because I think NY looks better in B&W...;)

I think a full B&W would be just as dramatic. Just lighten up her coat even more, & she'll shine. If had any skill at B&W conversions, I'd try it myself.

I like the cut out fine-- I faved it! But I think a full B&W will work well. Just make sure the coat is much lighter than the floor, and since the hair very nicely frames her face, that should her stand out even if her tone is similar to the tiles.

But it's hard to know for sure without seeing it. And everyone has their own take on what looks best.

Sounds good. I might just keep it where it is at the moment. I wasn't a terrible fan of the yellow in the coat either. Thanks for the suggestion...:D

She's a colorful one.... I like what you were going for here but I don't like that she is looking at the camera, I would have saved if she was looking at the crowd or off in the distance...

Unsuccessful attempt to use tacky photoshoppery to distract from the fact that it is a boring snapshot.

And yeah, DM has lot it's mind. You could stand in Grand Central Station for days and never have a situation where one are of the floor is so clear with all the activity in the background. And you complain about looking at the camera? FFS.

Hmm. I like the selective colouring and the business of it all, but I don't find the subject very striking.

Selective color is awful when it's used on a good photo, let alone this one.

I didn't like it with the selective color, and i still don't like it. Its a snapshot no matter what you do to it because she's down there looking up at you. she might as well be waving at you.

Bummer dude. Your photo wasn't cool enough for The Icebox. Feel free to throw it in the pile with the rest of the melted muck, and better luck with your next submission.
