They're all mine tonight.

I really stink at the 'one photo a day thing', so I'm uploading en masse. I have no patience.

I'm also off on another trip, so hopefully these pics will tide you over until I can post Day 2 of my Teton/Yellowstone trip.

Where am I going this time? Two locations, one theme: water

Don't apologize for posting more than one. ;-) This is a really great group of photos! :-)

That D200 sure does lovely night scene. Am I reading the properties correctly? Are you taking a 25mm photo at f/2.8? wow, that would be a nice lens to play with. I love the silhouette in this one.

Very nice! Reminds me of my last camping trip to South Sister and how excited I got when I saw the International Space Station fly across the sky.

That is beautiful. When viewed full, I can see a streak, presumably a satellite. I can also see my home planet :-)

Oh my...

It's amazing how disconnected were are with the true night sky in the 21st century. How often do city people see this? Hardly. It looks so stunning! So beautiful! Nice work. :) I really want to go somewhere remote now lol.

This is just beautiful. When you consider the inspiration that the night sky has provided for us (and over over thousands of years) it is so sad that many people have never seen a truly dark sky. Perhaps that is why the campaign for dark skies has such an uphill struggle - people just don't realise what they are missing?

Anyway I really like your photograph!

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments and 'faves'. :)

I was camping along the Owyhee River, just north of the lake, when I took this. I have done a lot of camping, but this night was BY FAR my most memorable night out under the stars. I had the river and crickets singing me to sleep, billions of stars over my head, and a happiness about me, like I had a secret place in Oregon that no one knew about.
