fire and ice

Using an original image from me, and a texture from NinianLif
    www.flickr.com/photos/beapierce/2977469398/in/set-7215760...

Also using a new technique, where the texture is the base layer and the image elements are pasted on top and various blending modes used. I usually do it the other way around, but this seemed to work really well.

I am not particularly happy with the darkness of the text, but you wouldn't believe how much effort I put into it to get it to look like this!

    Looks better Large On Black

very interesting. I don't do much to my photos usually Jason, so I have no knowledge of creating layers or textures.

I get the urge occasionally. It depends if I am busy taking photos or busy trying to create the atmosphere in which I want to take photos. And as I am sweating with a severe case of man flu and haven't picked my camera up much in weeks, this is a nice way to 'keep my finger in', if you know what I mean :-)

Interestingly I have found that the images that work best with textures tend to be ones I wouldn't normally post. Not that rubbish pictures will work though either.

Great result! I've never tried anything like this, perhaps one day...
Its probably - no, certainly ;-) - totally misplaced, but beautiful as the poem is, it still reminds me of that famous quote from "This is Spinal Tap", where bassist Derek Smalls explains his place in the band... ;-)
"David and Nigel are like poets, you know, like Shelley or Byron, or people like that. The two totally distinct types of visionaries, it’s like fire and ice, and I feel my role in the band is to be kind of the middle of that, kind of like lukewarm water."

HA ha aha haaaa! Oh man, it is so long since I have seen that, I had totally forgotten that bit. I am going to have to get it on DVD now :-)

      Opposites, extremes, the spectrums end.
Harsh yet beautiful, enticing and deathly in each moment.
Fire and Ice hold me enthralled in their substance, yet
Who knows truly how the worlds end will be met?
What choice will each of us have if fate plays its part?
In the heat of the star or the cold of the night,
So look to the now, love all, and do right.
