busy, not dead
Despite what some may think, I am not dead. Tired, but still alive.
Those who know me will realise that as a school teacher today marks the end of an insanely busy period, and the start of a nice long break. 7 weeks. Yep, being a teacher definitely has its perks!
To be honest since my ski trip in February, one of the unfortunate side effects of my son's accident has been a complete lack of interest in going through any of the images and editing or uploading them. And somehow that has then spread into a lack of interest in getting my camera out. I do however intend to do something about that over the next few weeks. So, despite the fact it is now late July, expect to see some skiing pics fairly soon!
Better late than never...
This is a screenshot of my last.fm homepage, showing that I have just listened to my 55,555th track. This happened on a train from York to Newcastle. I am now listening to a track by Fluke called Absurd, appropriate I felt as I have had to buy another ticket and go back to York, as there has been a complete mess of the hotel booking made. At least the train has free wifi, and I have treated myself to first class travel too, lovely and comfy, with a free coffee or two too.
Lovely.

the frozen lake at zell am see
Wow.
'They' say that every cloud has a silver lining. The best thing that came from my sons stay in the Zell Am See Krankenhaus was this. It meant that I walked around the frozen lake to visit him, and saw this incredible view.
I am not sure that had he not injured himself I would have ever made it down to the lakes edge, and I am so glad I did. In fact if anything it was the highlight of the holiday. The downside is that it has taken me too long to get around to editing and filing the images. I think that this is the view back across to Zell Am See.

the church and the dancing devil
A quick snapshot, seen in York, taken in the Parish of All Saints Pavement (With St Crux and St Michael Spurriergate.) You know you are in the presence of history with place names like that!
I was really impressed with this guy. First with the way he had placed himself next to a church. The juxtaposition of the Devil next to a place of worship, well, that tickled my sense of humour. His fiddle playing was good too, and the actual devil itself was ingenious too.
Well worth the pound I gave my son to drop into the case that was greeted with a nod of the head and an extra devilish jig. Brilliant.
See where this picture was taken. [?]
(I think the geotag info is correct, but if you think otherwise please tell me.)

rest [crop]
My son, sititng down waiting for us slowcoaches to catch up with him.
Harsh weather conditions at Zell Am See, Austria.
I am pleased to say that Matt is making a good recovery after his accident at Kaprun. He has been told that he should make a full recovery, though it will take 6 to 12 weeks to do so. He was flown home from Austria via Munich and had a much easier trip home than the rest of us, who had to drive for two days via Saarbrucken! (A bit of a drastic way to get out of driving all the way home, and not to be recommended!)
It is good to have him back, though the fridge will take a while to recover after he has gone back to school!
I cannot begin to tell you how relieved I am he is OK.

rest
My eldest son has a sit down in the snow on the slopes of Zell Am See, Austria. He is a much better snowboarder than any of us are skiers, so spends a good amount of his time sitting down waiting for us to catch up. Under his face mask he is probably looking very fed up and bored, but then again he is a teenager, so that is almost to be expected!
