Merbra

Merbra by jaqian.
I spotted this under a railway bridge on Pearse Street in Dublin. It by one of the most talented graffiti artists around Dublin: Asbestos. It's composed of chinese newspapers pasted on the wall with i think a stencil of a mer-zebra a hybrid of a mermaid and zebra. I love the contrast of the black han characters with the paint. Hope to see more of this work around.

[EDIT] According to the artist they're Merbra's not Mer-Zebras. Check out more of his work here: www.flickr.com/photos/asbestos

This is a great piece and a great accompanying explanation. I love the fact that you've said that a mer-zebra is a hybrid of a mermaid and a zebra. Made me smile and then laugh. I like to laugh so cheers.

Thanks Asbestos I really like this photo. Its currently a start up screen on my phone and wallpaper on my pc at home. I thought the other merbra looked a little darker alright. Must have been a big photocopier :) . Where do you get your inspiration from? Why the chinese paper?
