It's just a personal picture, yes. We were waiting to board the same plane these stewardesses were waiting for.

Unfortunately I never got a decent picture of their stewards; while the stewardesses has this very neat sari-inspired uniform, the stewards have a hideous green-tinted suit with wide lapels making them look like colorblind lounge singers at a third-rate motel.

Hey yeah. I remember that. I know that the have that green on the stewardesses uniform, but maybe they should pick another color from that batik pattern. But I would disagree with you if this uniform is sari inspired, i think it is more kebaya inspired. But what do i know...LOL

The Malaysia Airline stewardess wore 'Kebaya', a type of traditional Malaysian attire. Kebaya is also worn by Singaporean Airline's stewardess, but in a different design. Kebaya is common in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Try google for "kebaya" or "kebaya nyonya", then you'll see that the original dress is so lovely to be wear by any women. I think that's why the used it as a uniform.
