An exercise in polyptych

My dear friends Aaron and Adria as they welcome their first child into the world!

I don't know where to begin telling this story...

This is a hand-painted marker on an abandoned piece of property in NW Arkansas, that was once known as the "FOU Land". It was the home of a small cult called the Foundation of Ubiquity, or FOU. In July 1982, two of the members hijacked a Trailways bus and held the passengers hostage for several hours on a bridge outside of Jasper, Arkansas in the hopes of advertising their "messiah" to the world.

After their demands were met and they were interviewed by a local TV station, they released the hostages and proceeded to commit "suicide by cop", forcing the police gathered around the bus to shoot them both. The female, Kate Haigler, eventually killed both herself and her husband Keith after the police only wounded them.

This is her handwriting, in the rock walls on the remains of the "church" at the FOU Land.

Creepy, huh?
