What beach is this on? I have been looking for somewhere to get close to the lake at night. Most public beaches have hours and I've been kicked out a time or two. I am in Grand Rapids so I am not far from South Haven where you took your other recent photos.

Thanks, all! CowboyEric, the dune is on the beach directly adjacent to the pier in South Haven. I had shot some photos of the tower from the north pier and passed several small dunes while walking back to the parking lot. I didn't see any signs regarding beach hours, so I hope that South Haven may be a little more beach-friendly for you!

I've also mapped the photos - hopefully that will help. too.

Wow. This is great... It's such a peaceful image. I'm curious how you got both the star streaks and the bird fying. I know you shoot film so it probably isn't digital enhancement. My guess is double exposure. But that doesn't make too much sense either given your proven ability to capture outstanding night time images.

Futski, there was some digital enhancement involved in making this photo. The dune and seagull were in the original shot. The star tracks were taken from this photo then flipped and added to this one.

I do shoot all film, but I have all my film scanned to CD at the time of processing so I can make adjustments to levels, and do some dodging and burning and saturation/desaturation afterward as necessary.

Thanks for the observation (and the invite to A Big Fave!).
