can a pw trigger an IR based flash?

Only if the IR based flash has a pc sync port on it. The PW needs to be physically connected to the flash via some means whether it is s pc sync port or a hotshoe adapter that it can be connected to.

Hello, I like your strobist style and I imagine you must have had some timpe to play with different configs, Have you ever tried to fire 4 flashes with a single powet wizard? I dont have a PW to try for my self but if if worked like that it would be a no brainer for the purchase of the PW's. Thanks and congrats for your work.

Thank you! No I have not fired more than two from one pocket wizard. I believe that is even frowned upon by the people that make them. From playing with cheap triggers and these in many configs I would say that it is something that should work, not that it couldn't cause you some problems that you won't know until you try it. Best of luck!
