A robot I built for sensor fusion research

The little robot used a tractor style power train and very inexpensive sensors (ultrasonic and infrared) to detect its own surroundings.

The computer used was called a Handy Board, developed and sold at MIT.

This is in no way to be considered a high-tech project. This was a learning tool for developing an understanding of how fusing the information from simple sensors can provide vastly improved performance and cost savings over single sensor technologies.

Rear cockpit view from inside Varieze

A Varieze is an experimental aircraft that cruises at over 200 mph with only a 100 hp Continental O-200 engine.

The pilot and passenger sit behind one another. My shoulders touch both sides of the aircraft at the same time.

This is the only aircraft I've ever flown that had a side-stick like you would find in modern fighter aircraft. Though obviously without the performance benefits.

1937 Cultivision A farm tractor

I use this tractor to cultivate me and my father's garden. Notice the engine is offset to the left and the drivers seat is to the right, so the driver can look directly down over the plants.
