The Black Buck raids took place during the Falklands War in 1982. Five extremely long-range (nearly 8,000 nautical miles) ground attack missions by Royal Air Force Avro Vulcan bombers against Argentine positions in the Falkland Islands. The Vulcans were refuelled en route by Handley Page Victor Tankers. At the time these were the longest range bombing missions in history.

Barry Neal also "drives" the Victor shown in the photo on fast taxi runs at Elvington. The Victor is no longer considered airworthy and is not permitted to fly.
