nice! except, when you want to copy the "card's" details over to your cell phone/pda/whatever you need 2 pairs of hands to do so :)

If memory serves correctly this was a concept card that a friend of his made up.

If you're in Toronto, Poul Nielsen is an excellent personal trainer. :-)

It's cool and conceptually strong, but functionally useless.

Every person who picks this card up would have to be told how to read it.
It wouldn't sit nicely in my wallet.

If I saw this laying on the ground, I would think it's just discarded garbage and not someone's business card.

It's more of a marketing gadget than anything else. And an expensive one to produce, most likely.

is that really a problem, ensures a dialogue

do you ever pick up business cards off the ground, i find if they're on the ground to start with they're not worth picking up

this cool card was also spotlighted in ARCHIVE magazine. Decent Idea but WOZ's steel cards are still cooler

I suppose a better analogy would be if I saw this sitting on a person's desk, I wouldn't make the association with it actually being a businesscard.

Rather I would think it's a piece of rubber with writing on it, maybe a piece of a training band that broke, whatever. I make the association of it being a business card by its shape only.

I suppose the natural inclination of most people would be to pull upon the rubber, eventually.

But if the function of the card is to provide information about the trainer to an uninformed market, then I think it fails on a utilitarian level.

If it's to be used as a marketing tool, it's very a very cool object concept, and it succeeds.

The dialog might consist of what a cool idea this card is and how great that personal trainer is.

To the uninformed, however, I think it would *probably* be lost.

And yes, if I see a piece of design on the ground, I will pick it up... Kind of like a trained dog.

If you could add your card to my group, The Business Card, that'd be excellent. I realize someone else has asked you to add it to theirs as well; think you could add to ours too?

Thanks!! Great card.

I don't get the comments about "how will I copy over the details" ... don't you have a good memory? :x After stretching it out two times you should be able to remember it all and copy it where it needs to go.

Anyway - love it.

To tomnjess:

Good ideas have power and there's always the conservative in the crowd to poo poo an idea that's outside of their comfort zone.

To creator:

Regardless of whether the card ever got made, your idea was creative and original and that's probably more than most of us can ever say.

Great job.

I used to do this with rubber bands... I would stretch it over the desk... then write things on it with a pen (usually things like "I hate Ms.So and so").. so when you put it together it looked all squished... then we would shoot them at the teacher haha

great idea, but the name/phone number should be visible when not stretched, if not, then this is useless as a business card.. it would be better to have some other elements invisible when unstretched (say a catchy slogan).

The "web 2.0" way, however, would have been to post the photo with a link to the site too -- then the buzz would have gotten this personal trainer dude some business.

I give this a 2 out of 10. It's a nice gimmick, but that's all. Like others mentioned, you need four hands to make it functional.

Superb concept... I disagree totally with people that have dissed this. How many other business card types are there that force you to do the very nature of the business type (train your muscles). Who cares if it can't be seen unless stretched etc etc. People would show this around just because it's cool as apposed to Joe Blog's boring looking business card that was made from a stupid template.

1. brilliant concept. I think it would be best used as Guerrilla Advertising - where these cards may be scattered in different public areas - to generate some buzz.

2. Definitely would need to be more recognizable as a "business card" with some info not stretched. I still think it's gimmicky and not entirely functional - a business card's purpose is to fit in the wallet and contain all the pertinent info when it's time to make that call - (i imagine it would get annoying after awhile.)
