I smoked him!
This is Sand Dune Park in Manhattan Beach. After playing around for a while, I raced Aaron up the hill. He's a much faster runner than I am, but I have a lot more experience climbing the dune. Anyways, I started quick and Aaron was on my tail. When I got to the last quarter, he was still close and I was certain that he would accelerate and my legs would give out. Instead, I saw that he was struggling and I scrambled to the top-- it wasn't close!
A few days later, we did 12 repetitions. Aaron got a solid 1.5 minute lead after the first 4 (9:40), maintained for the next 4 (10:10) then slowed down (11:00). Meanwhile, I covered the last 4 in about 9 minutes! I just about caught him at the top of the 12 climb, and I'm certain I would have killed him if we went one more time. For the 12 laps, it took a total of 30:45. That's a record for me.
