I found a magnifying glass in the office today, so I played around with it a bit. I'm not 100% satisfied with the way this turned out, so I'll have to try it again sometime with a better setup.
Anyway, the book is The Invention of Air by Steven Johnson.

Good Shot, just needs a little Makeup here, let's see if I can give you a little insight to my Imagination, hmmm:... Well, bring the background into focus,(don't leave a bokeh on the background pages), add an ancient aged texture to the paper (rust tint) , a red/bronze photo filter to everything but your hand and the magnifying glass, slant the glass a little if possible, do a periscope lens correction to the entire frame and add an angled light source from bottom right onto the glass and your hand ONLY with a Bluish Falloff. Finally, add a white light diffused halo from top right corner with a mid center falloff onto the book and the text UNDER the glass. Just my vivid imagination, (Thank God for Photoshop and the Likes!, lol). Good Luck :-)
