downeddesign: Boiled peanuts are not quite mature peanuts, still in their shells, that are boiled for hours in a mixture of water and salt. The process softens the shells and allows the salt to get inside. They're definitely an acquired taste, though. But if you ever hear a southerner refer to a "goober pea," they're talking about boiled peanuts.

I concur, it does look like it's been dropped from the sky. No competition from any other vendors then. Never heard of boiled peanuts...but will now give them a try if I ever see any.
