- Spare key (to be hidden under as many folds of bag and fabric as possible).

- GPS bike computer for timing, speed, cadence and heart rate.
- Trail runners for off the bike.
- Nylon web luggage strap doubles as a belt.
- Bungees.
- Mountain bike shoes aren't as bad off-bike as road bike shoes.
- U-lock with cable for the quick-release wheels.
- Bike outfit (see next photo).
- Knit cap, wool sweater, t-shirt, two pairs of cotton socks, underwear, medium sized towel light khaki jeans and a button-front shirt just in case I need to be presentable.
- Helmet with the race number left on because I'm a show-off.
- My everyday bike bag for the last four years.
- Emma thinks the rack makes her ass look fat.
- Reflector put back on after the race.
- Emma's more of a sprinter than a distance runner, but she's the kind of thin, strong thing you don't mind carrying up yet another 500 foot coastal climb on Highway One.
