Pack horse bridge

Pack horse bridge by Jaxpix50.
The most photographed bridge in this part of Lancashire. it is the bridge crossing Wycoller Beck and was the route the pack-horses took on their way from Yorkshire to Lancashire and back. The brige is over 800 years old.

Look at the wear in the center of the bridge. It took a lot of crossings to cause that.wow.

Thank you everybody. The bridge is beautiful at any season but my favourite is now with the rich green of the moss.

This is a great bridge, I wish I had seen it for real. It looks like it is work by all the horses, am I right?

Originally it was the old route from Lancashre to Yorkshire and was crossed by the pack horses. now the only people who cross it are tourists. It's a lovely place...not that far from Oldham when you come for a holiday!!

This bridge has a lot of character - it's those wonderfully curved stones in the center of the walkway, that look as if they've been worn down by passing hooves over the centuries. I'd love to see the bridge in some different lights.
