Turtagrø, Norway

Turtagrø, Norway

Not a bad place to pitch a tent. After a beautiful day at the Nigardsbreen, ending in a thunderstorm (probably why the sky was so clear). We drove east on the wonderful road 55. We just decided to stay here for the night. I couldn't resist the last sunlight on the mountains and got my pano gear out. The sky was beautiful all around (there was a rainbow behind us), but the top of the mountain was in the way, so I focussed on this part.

On the right you can still see the clouds in the valley that leads to the Lustrafjord, where we came from. Beautiful light in there, which can only really be seen in the full resolution version.
You can see it a little better in the large one though if you press (L).

Old and new

Old and new

I was out shooting fall colours in a beech forest, when at the end of the day I saw this flower at the side of the path.

There were even some dead leaves on top of the branch.

What better symbol could you ask for that God keeps the world in his hand at that there will be another spring.

Clouds gathering over Rondane

Clouds gathering over Rondane

Shot this in the afternoon of a beautiful sunny day. Sunburn from the sun on the water all day.
And then the clouds moved in and along with them the wind and rain. They stayed for a week.

A storm in the mountains is always more intense than anywhere else. You can feel the power of nature and the whole landscape stops being so friendly looking.

Boknafjorden

Boknafjorden

A panorama of the Boknafjorden. Shot from the edge of the fjord, where we pitched our tent, near Tau, looking towards Stavanger.

After a beautiful day in the sun, bad weather was coming in. It had already rained for a while, so this sunset was a big bonus (as was the kayak :)

The Zinc Smelters

The Zinc Smelters

Boliden Odda AS is a zinc smelting plant at the end of the Hardangerfjord.

We passed here on a beautiful evening after a rainy day, still looking for place to pitch the tent. I quickly set up my pano head and shot this. The full size version is about 120 megapixel and has great clarity.

The vapor cloud was gone right after I shot this. Got lucky that we passed at the right time with the balance of light and the cloud still there.
