The Oakland Temple

The Oakland Temple by Ivan Makarov.
If you ever landed in Oakland Airport at night, you most likely would have seen this large well-lit LDS temple standing on the East hills of Oakland. It's a good site both during the day and at night.

Beautiful! I have one of those weak goals in mind of going out and shooting the Utah temples, but my resolve is weak! Love the slow shutte and the effect on the fountain!

I had the same goal when I lived in Utah, but never got around doing it unfortunately. A bit late for me now.

Great long exposure night shot Ivan, I would compose it the exact same way! Thanks for the D300 tips about the tuning. Too bad I got this bad start with the body/lens communication problem. I saw on some threads that it happened to others. I'll get the body replaced for the peace of mind! I'll be getting the 18-200mm VR soon, the 70-200mm VR f/2.8 next year may be! ;-)

I was listening to President Monson right as the photo popped up on explore as I was exploring. Very, very nice shot. It is very pretty! But the outside does not even compare to the inside. :D

That is an excellent long exposure. The clarity in the temple is excellent and I am always a fan of blurred water (no matter if other people dont like it).

You most definately need to VIEW THIS PHOTO LARGE as only then can you fully appreciate it.

Excellent composition too!

Absolutely love your picture and would love your tips on how you got this picture....what was your aperture and shutter settings at? I'm going there next week and would love to get a picture similar to this.

You can see the EXIF data on the right under "More properties". Other than that, you'll need a tripod, as this was the long exposure.
