hey baby hey baby hey baby

So I'm out walking over the weekend and I come across this small bull snake sunning itself on a bit of asphalt. I wasn't in a hurry and the snake wasn't in a hurry, so we decided to shoot a few photos. After two or three frames, the snake started to get all uppity and demanding, saying I wasn't getting its good side.

I hate working with prima donnas like that.

the reader

Noodling around town yesterday I found myself in an odd third floor cafeteria. This man was reading the final pages of his book, and it must have been enthralling because his body was incredibly tense. I was really struck by the geometry of the scene and since my camera was sitting on the table, I just turned it slightly and released the shutter.

I intended to show him the photo and ask his permission to post it here, but I didn't want to interrupt him so close to the end of his book. The next time I looked up from my own book, he was gone.

after the fair

The stadium at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on a semi-cloudy day. And an alternative view of Jalapeno Pete's. I had to scurry over a bench to get to the right spot to frame the photo before the sunlight disappeared.

Photography makes you do stupid things.

An accidental and very obscure homage to one of Hitchcock's worst movies ever...Topaz. If you haven't seen it, don't bother. It's best to forget this movie belongs to the Hitchcock ouvre.
