This just goes to prove that if you look around, you'll eventually see stuff.

tank cars by It'sGreg

tank cars

I followed the railroad tracks out of the city yard for maybe a mile when I came across these tank cars used for petrochemicals. Two curious things happened. First, it just seemed to me somehow cool to have a visual image of the origin of the term 'sidetracked.' I'm a dork that way.

Second, there were some homeless folks camped in three improvised shelters just a few dozen yards off the tracks. The people and the shelters would have made a great photo, but when I approached them to see if I could take their photos one guy started demanding money. "You want my picture, gimme five dollars, gimme five dollars, gimme five dollars." The others tried to calm him down, but after a minute or so I decided it was best to just leave.

And it's just now occurred to me that those folks, they were sidetracked too.

two pears, one in a plastic bag by It'sGreg

two pears, one in a plastic bag

This photo took a lot longer than you'd think. I couldn't get the blanket properly rumpled. First it was perfectly flat...but that looked wrong. So I moved the fruit and laid down on the bed and sort of bounced around a bit. Then replaced the pears and took another shot. Then repeated the process four more times, each with an increasingly rumpled blanket. This was the second rumple iteration.

This is the sort of idiotic behavior that's the hallmark of Iron Photographer.
