Avengers Figure - Iron Man

Avengers Figure - Iron Man

I recently shot 3 3/4" Hasbro Avengers action figures. It was quite a task. This is the Iron Man shot, he was suspended on fishing line. We added some effect on post, but remove them to make sure there wasn't any confusion with the toys. To read more on the experience / setup and to see the rest of the team head over to the Blog.

Strobist: sb-800 in a 24" softbox camera right. Incandensent light in the rear camera left. Trigged by a pocketwizard

Hope

Hope

Post Process Friday...back by popular demand...I decided to do one. If you are not familiar with PPF, let me explain. First, THIS IS NOT MY IMAGE. Back during my 365 I did what I called Post Process Friday. Someone would send me their SOOC image and I would post process it I would one of my own photos.

This image was taken by good friend, Kim Oberski (aka .{kim unscripted}.) These are one of those images that I wish I had taken. I love how the colors on the girls pop..and the captured moment is perefect.

As far as post process, I debated on if I should go darker or lighter with the forrest. In the end I choose a little lighter. To me the girls represent hope. In lightroom, I mainly adjusted the white balance and curves. Slightly straightened the horizon. Sharpened the image a tad to recover some of the detail of the forest. Also added a little fill to brighten up the girl. Then played around a little with the toning. After that I saved out to JPG and opened it in PS to add a slight vignette and some magic sauce. There you have it...Happy PPF.

Tiffany Fontaine - Natural Light

Tiffany Fontaine - Natural Light

Some of you might remember the one light shot I took of Tiffany back in Nov:

Prior to that we did some walking around shots & was able to test my new 50mm 1.4G in natural light. Since several of you asked, I grabbed several of my favorites and made this triptych. Overall I'm much happier with the 1.4g over the 1.4d. The only downside is the focus is slower than the older version. Also I'm realizing I'm not a big fan of nikon's newer plastic feeling design without the aperature ring.

Chronicle

Chronicle

I was commisioned to do a concept image for Fox Studio's upcoming feature "Chronicle". The only thing photoshopped in post was the levitating truck (and the faux tilt shift of course). Head over to the Blog where I have addition images and information.

Reflect

Reflect

Taken last week in San Diego. I initially planned a portrait using a flash. I setup my stuff then when I went to look for my flash it wasn't there. I decided to rock the natural light. In some of the shots (this one)....I played around with shooting thru the glass door which showed the reflection of the christmas tree which was setup in the room. The tones of this image was mostly as a result of the natural light...only minor tweaks in LR.

2011 For me was a lazy year as far as photography. Not a total loss as I took probably my favorite picture/portrait in 2011. This year I want to be more intentional about getting out and shooting more. More doing and less thinking.

PS: I later found my flash in another bag
