Starry Night sky over Balanced Rock in Arches National Park. As tall as 23 men, or a 13-story building --the total height of Balanced Rock is about 128 feet (39 m), with the balancing rock rising 55 feet (16.75 m) above the base. The big rock on top is the size of three school buses. This sandstone formation has been light painted from a distance of about 250 feet by a moving, diffused, quartz halogen light (from camera left). Camera direction is east. Photographed about three hours after sunset. (See the "notes" indicating Taurus, Pleiades, and the planet Jupiter.) You gotta see this on black and larger (click on image, or press the "L" key)!

Now there's a cool nightscape Royce! I love how there are so many details to pick out in the sky above and in the foreground. And that balanced rock sure makes a heck of a foreground!! Terrific exposure Royce, as usual!
