Lonely this Christmas

Lonely this Christmas

"Lonely This Christmas" was a popular single by the English glam rock band Mud, that topped the UK singles chart in 1974 and reached Christmas number one.
The song

Written and produced by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, "Lonely This Christmas" was Mud's second number one single in the UK, spending four weeks at the top in December 1974 and January 1975. It was the third number one single that year for the ChinniChap writing and production team, and was performed in the style of Elvis Presley's slower songs from his later career. Due to this, the song is often erroneously attributed to Presley.

Cold as Ice

Cold as Ice

I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show. ~Andrew Wyeth

The Foyle's A Glow

The Foyle's A Glow

The River Foyle (from Irish: an Feabhal) is a river in west Ulster in the northwest of Ireland, which flows from the confluence of the rivers Finn and Mourne at the towns of Lifford in County Donegal, Republic of Ireland, and Strabane in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. From here it flows to the City of Derry, where it discharges into Lough Foyle and, ultimately, the Atlantic Ocean. The river separates part of County Donegal from parts of both County Londonderry and County Tyrone. The district of County Donegal that borders the western bank of the River Foyle is traditionally known as the Laggan. This district includes the villages of St. Johnston and Carrigans, both of which are nestled on the banks of the river.

We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about."
