The (still active) Ananda with its golden 170 foot high chedi, is one of the largest, best preserved and most revered of all the temples. It is beautiful fusion of Mon and adopted Indian style of architecture. At its pinnacle is a golden gilded hti, which is the name of the umbrella or top ornament found on almost all pagodas in Myanmar. It features 4 tall standing buddhas at each of the four compass points.
What you can see is part of the (very) long entrance arcade to the temple. From the color and style it seems to have been a later addition to the temple.
