The esplanade of the castle in the old town, full of people entering the castle for free during the St Andrew Sunday. We were of course already in the castle as this was taking from the cannon gallery. It was a freezing sunny day. Landmarks of the city can be seen everywhere. This includes the volcanic remnant of Arthur's Seat and the nearby Salisbury Craig on the right and Calton Hill in the left background. Beyond, the Firth of Forth merges with the sunny morning sky. You may be able to spot a ship 'floating in the air'.
Leonard Cohen performed here during the summer of 2008. We saw the concert. I can still hear his gentle voice.. "don't catch the summer cold".. A cultural highlight of the year.
Also, this is a proof of the ubiquity of tour buses in Edinburgh. See previous photo.
