www.iowapolitics.com/index.iml?Article=92468 Commentspunchdrunklove1 says:This guy makes me sick. He is a white man
running as a black candidate. He was raised
by his white mother in all of the white
schools, not by his black muslim father. If
he claims to be black then you can see, that
the fact, that his black father was not in
his life is what drives him to who he is. You
have to wander if he will favore the Muslium
in him too.
oc_boomer says:Obama's mother at one time loved Obama's
father and was probably a good woman in
raising him. In all probability she never
allowed Obama to hate his father, as your
mother would have done as well, it makes a
healthy man of men. kendra b harris says:punchdrunklove - Let me guess, you are white
and probably went to white schools and don't
have anyone in your life that is black! Your
comment above is so ignorant. What exactly
do define as being black?... let me guess,
poor, fro hair style, baggy clothes and no
education???? You should read his book dreams
from my father... THE MAN IS BLACK! Unless
you are bi racial, you will never know what
it is like to find an identity in this
society because of people like you!
sohblaz says:Quite funny that the only time the black
identity of a person from a mixed relation is
questioned in America is when it is being
used to his disadvantage. I am not even sure
if Obama has any influence on defining his
identity in America. What would people say if
he said he is white? We are surely familiar
with the one blood drop rule in America and
the consequence it has on offsprings from
mixed marriages (black and white) who dare to
define themselves as white. I think Obama is
just conforming to the one blood drop rule
because even if it was his grand father who
was black, America will still define him as
black. Americans should stop pretending that
they see this guy as white.
iloveej54@sbcglobal.net [deleted] says:I would like to clear something up about Mr.
Obama's father. Everyone says his father was
a Muslim. Not true! His father was from
Kenya, Africa. So, why does everyone say his
father was Muslim? stumpsbmwm3 says:It amazes me that we still connect
intelligence, leadership, and any other
positive management gift to a persons race.
In doing so it appears we are either saying
that race directly enhances/degrades a
persons mental capabilities; or we are still
tenants of the slave is not considered a 100%
man theology. thandi76 says:lol I am always amazed at Americans and your
ability to have the dullest conversation
ever. It is incredibly ridiculous that even
after so many years you still do not know
who is defined as black in America. You
have never had anything in the middle - you
are either while or black in America - now
you want to nuance race because Obama is
running. Incredibly stupid people. Instead
of worry about the young men and women who
are out there defending your stupidity and
who best will lead them out of a war started
by a mad man you are debating who is black
and his father when you have no idea who is
father is. Read a book stupid people maybe
you might debate on an intellectual level.
Just incredible. Only now do i understand
why corporate America chooses to employ from
outside the country. .
dimmitt00 says:I recently saw a photo with an interview in
which Obama would not participate in saying
the pledge to the flag of the very country in
which he is running for president. He not
only refused to say the pledge, but he
refused to cover his heart with his hand. If
he doesn't even have respect for our country
he should not be allowed to run for
president. This is not a racial thing or
even have anything to do with where he stands
on the issues. It has to do with respect and
love for the country he want to be in charge
of. I would rater anyone else be elected
president, at least they love and respect
the United States of America!!!!!
mylitapple says:Obama I read your proposal for Social
Security and I think it’s great! Taxing our
paychecks is much better than taking from
social programs. This is coming from a single
mother of three children, a student, and a
low income family. These are all the things
that I represent. I think if my budget can
tolerate a small pay-cut than so can everyone
else. I'm sure no one will be hurt if they
don't get there "new plasma TV"
with the extra money they could have saved!
luz599 says:I am a british and i love white and black
people. This world belongs to all of us as we
agree that we are all one. Lets give the
chance to the one that we love from our heart
and support them so they can give the best.
To me whenever i watch any presidential
debates, obama stands out among all because
he talks with human passion. Sometimes
clinton and the rest but the rest sounds
cunny, dont really mean what they are saying,
just want to talk and no enough convincing
points. Anyways let our votes judge since we
all have our favourites. Hope all of them
will not let us down.
csanfordivy says:It still appears that the world...cannot get
beyond Racial, Ethnic, and/or Religious
stereotypes of People. Please bear in
mind...that Obama did not choose be viewed as
a black man...this country gave him that
distinction....remember the US uses Race as
it's primary distinction of classes of
people. As for his father being viewed as
Muslim...well I do believe that the term
Muslim is reflective of a person/persons who
practice Islam (faith)...so, why didnt the
media indicate that his Father was
Kenyan....(nationallity)...Or could this have
been a subtle way of trying to discredit his
character and substance as a man by trying to
reflect his association by birth to someone
who was Muslim. Let me see..Iraq, Iran,
Afghanistan, Sudan, and other areas have
Muslim communities...and right about now with
the war and terrioist at the forefront of
most peoples mind. Well, I guess you can
figure the rest out for yourselves. marianne224 says:MESSAGE TO Hillary: try and control your
blind ambition... people are seeing through
you more and more, and realizing you're a
phoney, lying, manipulator, and you may just
NOT get the nomination. MESSAGE TO BARACK:
you've got my vote !! I appreciate your good
judgement, fresh perspectives, willingness to
give direct answers to questions, and general
intelligence.
hayes5391 says:When is the last time the following terms
were truthfully used to describe a political
candidate?:::Character, dignity, honor,
intelligent, compassionate, candid. These
terms define Barack Obama......does Washington Quilter says:My vote has only to do with who I think is
capable of making good decisions for our
country on my behalf. a.halim@yahoo.com says:it is interesting to see America practices
what he preaches.A leader must not be elected
not because of his
race,ethnicity,color,religion,but because of
his foresight for the future of America and
its people.Barack Obama all the way.
ericdanson.githinji says:please, let not race determine the leadership
of a country, rather let the brightness of a
candidate guide the voters decision. Vote for
Obama.
mhutch151 says:As I read all of these comments, I too am
amazed at what some people say. I have two
very young children and quite frankly, I'm
scared of what the world will be like even 15
years from now. There are a lot of bad things
going on in the world right now, and we need
someone to listen to the people of our
country and not listen to Corporate America.
I'm not sure who that is, may not be anyone
running for election this year. I just wish
Americans would fight for what is right and
what they believe in, instead of sitting back
and commenting in these chat rooms. There is
a lot at stake, the world's future...the
whole world is in shambles it seems. Global
warming, wars, you name it. Maybe the thing
to do is act, not hope that someone inportant
will read these comments.
bmkasule says:Am not an American, but I have been following
American politics right from the time of the
guilded age. I think this is the time for all
American to show their commitment to the
elimination of all forms of racial
discrimination. We need to have a free world
with a free people. What matters is the
ability of the person but not the colour,
that is an outward appearence but inside all
things are the same. bacria2007 says:If the people say Obama is black,he's not
able to be a u.s president. cofesipper says:Now that we have all discussed his
nationality and color, let's try to discuss
his issues, this country does need a change.
I am heart broken about the amount of
Americans who have died fighting for what ? A
change is definitely needed is Barrack the
next President who can lead us into a better
state for our country. Lets discuss that
issue.
Idris Olanrewaju says:this photograph of Senator Barack Obama, oozes
charm,charisma,intelligence,political
savviness,confidence and much more.Though
this might be too early to say.I can`t wait
for Mr Barack Obama to be inaugurated as the
44th President of The United States of
America come January 2009.
naz4good says:Barak Obama will be the distinct caveat that
America has matured past it's brazen history
of slavery, racial profiling (his last name
sounding muslim, though he is a christian),
and unwarranted fears, when this man is
elected because of his views and sincerity of
the issues, not what COLOR he is!!! This is
2008, we are allegedly the world leaders. How
can we still be so narrow minded? The entire
universe is watching us America---let's keep
our position strictly on the corolaries, the
changes that are needed to keep our lead as
the forerunner of the entire world--which is
"America the Beautiful, powerful, and
first in freedom" can we actually say
this with such foolishness as what color a
person's skin is? or what color his parents
are, etc? It is after all, "The
"GREAT" That makes America ever
prominent!!!!!!!!!
jeffhenry2008 says:I still don't understand what america is all
about? In the first place can anyone here
tell me why DV/Greencard program was
instituted and still is active? Can someone
reasonable enough here tell me the difference
between a black and white human? Can anyone
tell me what real leadership is all about? A
"black man" fighting for a change
in the foolish system we are currently in or
a "white man" who is war crazy?
Point out the royal families we have in the
States, Bushs', Clintons' ? People are
talking about Obama being black but never
talked about Ex President Clinton's scandal
while in Office. He ran for the Illinois
legislature and won and what difference does
it make if he runs for the presidency? I can
understand why foreigners here make much more
sense than americans, most of us all are just
dumb and dull heads, the only thing we know
is checking our bank and credit card accounts
online, pay bills, club, cheat on our
wife/husband and get tonnes of divorce
papers, nothing more, no sense, no
intelligence and growth. How long are we
going to have to remain like this? The only
time when races matter in america is when a
man runs for a public office... Clinton
should stop all her manipulations and let's
give Obama a chance, Clinton isn't a royal
family entitled to the President, simply
because Bush junior did it doesn't call for
Hilary stepping into the scene. We're not
fools, we know they are all out there for
their pockets and personal enrichments, Obama
stands out of all the candidates and fools
shouldn't discourage people from giving their
support. Clinton hasn't been able to defend
her points, she's just real phone and no dumb
heads should come here and make some lousy
comments about Obama being from a black
kenyan father and a white mom... LOL people
can say lousy things, people were talking
about him being raised by his mom and
neglected by his dad which doesn't make sense
to me, what if his dad was white? Stop all
these B.S. and reason like grown ups, don't
instill your fooly in your children's brains.
I'm a white man but got married to a black
woman and I wouldn't for anything in the
world want my kids to be segregated from a
particular function if I was a black man
married to a white woman. Everyone is
entitled to his/her opinion, so this is mine.
Thank. Vote wisely.
twpw2007 says:perhaps we should have Obama shed a little
tear on TV? It worked for the phoney who is
doing what her people tell her she has to do
to show that she is a real person. I could
never vote for her. I am with Obama all the
way: he is what our country desperatey needs
at this point in time. He wil make a great
president. petertutu2 says:Man, iam from Russia and i have been
observing american politics for so long.I
think you americans are so racist that you
eager to put a person in the white house
just because they are white no matter how
dull they might be.I think Obama is a smart
guy and he has proved it to you.unless your
are too dull, you cant see the smartness in
Obama. At least he wont weep in public to get
votes,he is a strong and smart guy, thats the
person you need for presidency or else you
will also be a monarch.
dwightgillett says:i would like americans vote for a candidate
who is in touch with real day-to-day issues
of survival in america. Also, vote for a
president that has intelligence...Barack will
make america stand out as one of the few
nations on earth that has a highly
intelligent leader. He reminds me for me,
dgillet from burrell boom, belize , central
america who has the qualities but is being
torn down for the wrong reasons. I am also
surprise of black people in america-- he is
not black enough-- Barack has to appeal to
white america. Do you think he can win with
only black votes? Learn the game fo---.
mrwinterwolf says:Why dose it all have to come down to race
with you people? What if Jesus him self was
running? Would you ask oh he is a Jew? Why
can't a person be looked at for his or her
work. Ask your self this what if when you
died and God was to look at your race and not
what you have done with your time on earth.
But what do i know i'm just a Cherokee man
ms.naomie2008 says:Im not a politician. I know nothing about
politics. In fact, im one of the ones that do
not vote because they simply think that their
vote really does not count. ladydiana5 says:I am very pleased to respond. ladydiana5 says:And Yes, I like Senator Obama. TrutHurts1&Heals1 says:Hello everyone reading my comment! harusha_mbatika says:I invite americans to choose the senator
Barack Obama for president simple because of
his brightness and belief. Among all the
candidates, he is the only who knows how to
renew America. His leadership will probably
change the image of America abroad. Many
americans are not getting yet the negative
impact of Clinton and Bush
administrations.Obama was against Irak
invasion. In one of his speech, he reminded
people of what the former president Clinton
did in the African Great Lakes. Obama
embodies the change that people around the
world need and want. It is time for the blind
to open their eyes and stand for a real
change. Obama will take actions for a
peaceful world, a world for equal chances, a
world for a new hope and there is no doubt
that he brings this hope to all of us . esther-vannucci says:I an really surprised by the racial topic in
this messages, everybody is being racist,
especially the message relating senator Obama
to Mr. Cheny and other influencial family in
the country. It is like supporters want to
play the race and pitiness card. ttprincewilly says:America is a great Country to be reckoned
with in the World Politics and Economics, to
mention, but a few. dwightgillett says:Jan.22, Obama dont let Hillary gets under
your skin. If you continue playing her game
of smear and tear, you will lose. You need
to continue the message of hope and unity for
americans. Your intelligent message and voice
will win the hearts of americans. You are
down by a few points but turning back to deal
with the insignificant slanders will only
earned you a second place winner. Stick to
the original plan.
uwhiteam says:I returned, and saw under the sun, that the
race is not to the swift, nor the battle to
the strong, neither yet bread to the wise,
nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor
yet favour to men of skill; but time and
chance happeneth to them all. (Ecclesiastes
9:11KJV) jjjmac2003 says:If a person is of mixed race, (white &
black is where this is most true) that person
will most likely identify themselves as the
race they look the most like. ms.naomie2008 says:Why not be racist? i'ts not like it does'nt
exist anymore despite the effort of our great
martyrs and leaders; Martin Jr. Luther King,
Rosa Parks.and so on They fought and fought
untill they could not anymore. Untill they
were assasinated. For the first time in our
lives, black people have a black, educated,
intelligent man to stand up for us and you
are surprised that we are being racist. Come
on, are you freaking serious?
Esther-Vannucci, THIS IS FOR YOU! I do not
want to be ignorant but you have to work with
me and please start by looking around you and
do your research. tesla20 says:Admittedly Mr. Obama is an eloquent speaker.
Words are very powerful, they can ignite,
subdue, unite, divide, inspire people and
more. This alone is an invaluable skill that
would serve this country well to employ in
it's chief executive. Also he is a genuine
person with enough diverse experience due
partially to his mixed race. This too would
serve us citizens well: perhaps a new
perspective bolstered with hope and vision
able to inspire and unite. I believe he is a
person who will bring out the best in those
he serves and those who would serve with him.
Pahu says:It literally makes me sick that anyone is
still being judged by the color of their
skin, in this day and age, and IN AMERICA!!!
THE free world. I am an American,
naturalized, nevertheless, an AMERICAN. I am
ready for a CHANGE, better world once
again...whether it be black or a white person
(I'm literally blind to the color of the skin
as long as the person does the JOB). I don't
care if the person is man or a woman - do the
job for the states..our economy, our
well-being today and tomorrow. SO STOP BEING
SO SHALLOW AND NARROW MINDED...there is a
whole world out there, America is just a
piece of land that's a part of that same
world. Obama, he is an eloquent speaker,
educated...and seems to have a common sense.
WE NEED THAT AROUND HERE.
