Lincoln's Golden Temple

This photo is taken about half an hour after the other "Lincoln at Sunrise" photo in this set.

The most significant differences are clearly that the rising sun has thrown a golden glow across the entire facade and the sky has lightened several shades of blue. For better or worse, the statue of Lincoln is also not illuminated in this photo as the guards turn it off shortly after sunrise.

Washington at Sunrise

This entire morning was full of great captures due to the rising sun and cloudless sky, providing a perfect natural gradient from orange to blue.

It was cold and it was early, but entirely worth the trip down to the mall.

Iwo Jima Flag

The sky was cloudless and the sun was coming just over the tops of the nearby buildings as it was setting - landing perfectly on the flag.

Always hard to capture something interesting from these monuments as they are some of the most photographed monuments in the world, but I really liked this series.

Lincoln at Sunrise

My friend Jeff Casimir and I got up early on a cloudless winter day in 2009 to take some shots of the Lincoln without crowds and with the seldom seen front facade illuminated by the morning sun.

Really a different look at the stunning monument at that time of day.

Regal Fields

A pack of horses was gathered in a field off a country road outside of Hampshire, TN. As we drove past I caught a glimpse of this white horse in the middle and stopped the car as it walked away from the others.

I grabbed the camera and ran to the edge of the grass and got this shot off just as he turned to look at me with tail waving out.

Beautiful moment.
