Independent Register

The following images represent a six-month foray into an alternate universe of community news, entrepreneurship and camaraderie.

The Independent Register, a 2,000-circulation biweekly alternative newspaper, was circulated in New Bern from September 2005 until Jan. 23, when the paper's founders, Corey, William and Eric, were forced to suspend publication on due to financial shortfalls.

Corey and William are both working for community newspapers -- again. Some people never learn.
