Oussudu Lake, Pondicherry
Oussudu eri (Lake) is the largest wetland in Pondicherry. Another notable feature is that the state border between Tamilnadu and Pondicherry runs through the lake. Oussudu eri is one of the primary sources of drinking water for Pondicherry.

The lake caters to the needs of people nearby and of late has been subjected to enormous stress due to various anthropogenic factors. A small portion of the lake is covered with weeds while the edges (along the habitations) are covered with litter and plastic.

The lake spreads over about 700 hectares when full and plays an important role in groundwater recharge. The lake is also a declared 'bird sanctuary'.
