Good morning Imnas.

So, this is original Haiku by Imnas?

A Jewish girl who was into Japanese culture found my Geocities website (prepared in late 1996), and we corresponded. She tried to teach me an older version of Japanese poetry, called tanka.

Well, you do it better than I.

There are several members of Likas-Philippines who delve into poetry and writing too. For example:

gat3keeper / Lemon Glenn Mendoza
bullish1974 / Mike Rosales

You mentioned that books are a big part of you. I wonder, would you be interested to help organize a "project" based on this interest. It does not have to be our own writing -- but works of Filipino writers***, for example.

One of the long term projects of Likas-Philippines is to increase awareness of Filipino writers. I have some "old writings" from non-copyrighted books (Rizal, Balagtas, Filipinos who wrote in Spanish, etc.) Not complete historical writings but a good beginning.

However, it would be good to increase awareness also of contemporary Filipino writers, those who have been recognized already (e.g., Palanca winners), and those who are finding themselves. There are a number of efforts by Filipino writers actually, but they are all over the place, and many just disappear because it is expensive to maintain a website.

For example, the site A Critical Survey of Philippine Literature by Ian Casocot is very good but it is usually not available because it is a free site in Geocities, and the company limits viewing (bandwidth).

It is also not updated because only one person is doing it, instead of a collaborative effort. Please let me know if you are interested, and we can brainstorm more in private.

Thanks.

I already have extensive online material on English and American literature (i.e., poetry) so it would be good to have the same for Filipino literature.
