Lizard Head Peak

Lizard Head Peak

Lizard Head Peak (13113 feet) is one of the more difficult peaks to summit in Colorado. As stated by the first to summit the peak (Albert Ellingwood in 1920): A rottener mass of rock is inconceivable.

This is looking over from the way up Cross Mountain back in Autumn 2009.

Easter Island or maybe Snoopy?

Easter Island or maybe Snoopy?

At the top of Bison Peak in the Lost Creek Wilderness of Colorado. One of countless interesting formations on the peak.

North Star Mountain

North Star Mountain

A look at North Star Mountain (on the left; 13614 feet) from along the way to Quandary Peak (on the right; 14265 feet). This route up Quandary is about as easy as 14er climbs get. It's the 13th highest peak in the Colorado.

You can also see the Blue Lakes in the middle and Wheeler Mountain (13690 feet) behind them.

This was from 12 September. I've ended my high elevation hikes for the season now that the mountains have had a couple good snows. I bagged a number of peaks this year (3 14ers, 13 13ers and 3 12ers) and also hit a number of lakes, passes and other places. 330 miles (530 km) and 100,000 feet (30.5km) of elevation gain; It was a good year of hiking!

Showers over the "James Gang"

Showers over the "James Gang"

Clouds and showers building over the James group: Parry Peak (13391 feet) on the left, James Peak (13294 feet) in the middle (actually it's behind the other peaks) and Mount Bancroft (13250 feet) on the right. This view is from Mount Eva (13130 feet).

Another wonderful fall day in the Colorado mountains. There were scattered snow or rain showers around depending on elevation. Thankfully the lightning stayed away from my path.

I did the traverse from Berthoud Pass over Mount Flora, Mount Eva, Parry Peak and Mount Bancroft. It was my second time over Flora and Eva and first over the other two.
